Who is Presidential Material for 2008 in the GOP?

Today I heard Rudy Giuliani on the Hugh Hewitt show, and I have to admitt he really is an impressive guy. I'm wondering if he's the strongest possible contender for the presidency in 2008 to continue the war on terror.

Right now there's no one on the Republican scene that really impresses me. Romney is OK, he's sharp, and knows his stuff. Newt is smart and has good ideas, but he's not very presidential. McCain is the last guy I'd pick, just not impressive, too middle of the road for me, and he's a hot head. I've heard he's the next in line for the nomination.

Then there's Senator Allen who seems capable, but isn't very charismatic. There's Condi, (though she hasn't appeared interested), and Jeb Bush. Have I missed anyone?

I'm concerned that we don't have a strong enough contender, and maybe we need a surprise candidate that hasn't hit the radar yet. Who would really get the GOP base excited, and have a good chance in 2008?

Republicans distancing themselves from Bush. Is this good or bad?

The AP is reporting that some Republicans are distancing themselves from Bush in the upcoming election. I think that's a mistake.

I know Republicans, are independent thinkers, unlike the left, who march in lock step to the party line, no matter what, however, in this election we need a united front, and I think anyone who distances themselves from Bush is at risk of losing.

Am I wrong?

Will the media ever report the good news in Iraq?

I'm finding it a little disconcerting that the media reports on all the horrible atrocities committed by the fanatic terrorists in Iraq, and then conveniently  features the latest poll, with all the numbers of course, negative toward the war, and the President.

Does anyone else find it odd, that the MSM rarely reports on the good and positive things happening in Iraq, followed by a poll on those reports?

Will we throw out the Electoral College?

Living on the Left Coast can be a challenge when it comes to politics. The weather is "to die for" but the politics are killing me, literally!

Today's report by Dena Bunis in the OC Register is not good for my blood pressure! Her headline "Effort to throw out Electoral College starts slowly" may send me to  the emergency room! Been there, done that, don't want to go back!

The dems are still on the "kill the Electoral College" kick. Ahhnold is "deciding whether to sign" the bill that would start the ball rolling.  Ahhnold needs to hear from you now! We must tell him we expect him to do the right thing and not sign the bill.

The concequences of this spreading accross the country would be devastating. The Founding Fathers knew what they were doing when they wrote the Electoral College into the Constitution.

Can we afford to let the left coast lead the country down this road to political chaos?

Can we afford to throw out the Electoral College?

Michael Moore at it again?

I heard on a local talk show that Michael Moore is coming out from under his rock to "rock the vote" again this election year, with a major TV campaign. Is anyone surprised?

We will be barraged with Michael Moore's propaganda, with no way to hold him accountable under the rules of McCain-Feingold.

Thanks a lot Senator McCain! You really helped our cause!

Good Morning World!

When I woke up this morning I couldn't help thanking God for giving the world the blessing of America.

America is still the last best hope for the world, and is unique among nations, because she was founded on the principle that our rights and liberties are endowed by our Creator, not given by government.

People of faith around the world are praying for America and our president to succeed in this current battle we are facing for our very survival, because they know the world depends on America for it's survival.

May we fight the good fight, and may God grant us the victory.

As long as there are those who still honor God in this land, I believe God will smile on America.
May she continue to be the land of the free, home of the brave.

Carter, Clinton and Gore are a disgrace to America

How dare Carter, Clinton and Al Gore who achieved the pinnacle of success in the United States, use their status and influence to speak against their own country and our president in time of war!

Sandra Wise, (A Word to the Wise) in a recent blog asked "Are They Traitors?" referring to those who speak against our country in time of war, and those who reveal top secret information that puts our country at risk.

I have also questioned, whether these people are "Internationalists" first, and Americans second, in my blog "The New Socialists".

What should be the standards for treason for former presidents and vice presidents who go abroad, in time of war, and speak against their own nation and sitting president?

Carter, is now over in England bad- mouthing Tony Blair, our strongest allie in the war on terror. Does he want us to lose this war, just to make a name for himself and promote his latest book? Where is his allegiance to his country? Is his hatred for Bush so great that he would compromise his own nation's safety?

There are successes happening every day in Iraq, including the statement by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, according to Reuters, that  "Violence has decreased and our security ability is increasing. We are not in a civil war and will never be in a civil war" al Maliki told CNN in a recorded interview Sunday,"What you see is an atmosphere of reconciliation."

If al- Maliki and his Coalition Cabinet can succeed, the Middle East would be headed in a much better direction. Why won't Carter, Clinton, and Gore speak up for these brave people who's very life is on the line for democracy every day? They could use their influence and status to help the Iraqi leaders, their people, and America achieve a better world for the future.

If Carter, Clinton, and Gore would get behind the brave new leaders in Iraq, and speak about the advances the country is making toward stability, it would aid our defeat of terror, and help the Iraqis in the quest for a free and democratic society.

Disgusting bumper stickers

Yesterday, I was running errands, driving around in my Jeep Liberty, with USA license plate holder, "W" campaign sticker, and God bless America & our troops ribbon proudly displayed.

With  Il Divo blasting away in the CD player, I was  feeling pretty good about another beautiful day on the left coast, as I pulled into the grocery store parking lot to drop in and grab a few things for the weekend.

As I pulled in next to a minivan, I was jolted from my general good feelings about the day when I noticed the bumper sticker glaring at me with a picture of Bush saying "Hi, I'm George Bush and I approved this mess".

My first instinct was to leave a not- so- nice note on the windshield saying "what should Bush have done after 9-11 when the whole world thought Saddamm had WMD, you moron"!

Then remembering the Biblical admonition to "love your enemies", I refrained, but couldn't help going back in my mind to the Clinton "mess".

I'm sure there were plenty of derogatory Clinton stickers on cars, but I truly don't remember the viciousness that I see today against Bush. These people clearly don't understand that we are in a war which threatens our very existence.

In the coming elections, I'm hoping the "Reagan democrats" will be on our side, realizing their party has left them.

New "Survivor" show

There's a new "Survivor" show coming to a TV network near you (I forget which one), that will  feature races competing for survival.

Yes, I said RACES- asians, blacks, whites, latinos etc. Uh, isn't this a little politically incorrect?

Can I ask a politically incorrect question?

Is this their version of the evolutionist theory of "survival of the fittest"?

Just asking.

Let's cut to the chase

This morning after my usual routine of coffee and the morning paper, a quick perusing of the opinion section (my favorite), and my walk, I went to Townhall.com for my daily blog "hit". The first column I saw was Michael Medved's article contemplating why the world hates America.

It's easy to become philosophical or try to overanalyze this phenomenon, but lets cut to the chase. What has been the dominant thought in America for years, as far as education, Hollyweird, the News Media, science, philosophy etc. until recently, when conservative talk radio broke the silence for conservatism, and brought it to the forefront so we had a voice out there in the world?

You got it- liberalism!

And we all know what liberalism looks like- um... Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosy, Ted Kennedy, Al Gore, Hillary, the ACLU, Madonna, Planned Parenthood, Moveon.org, People for the American Way, the Dixie Chicks, Atheists United to Remove all Crosses from the Face of the Earth, the DNC, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, to name a few. To the world out there, this is America.

Yes, it's depressing, but I believe, with the advent of the "new media", the conservative message is getting out there, and the truth about the "other America" is getting some exposure. It's making the libs crazy and wackier than ever, but even though it may take years, maybe the truth about America, what it stands for, and  the conservative message, will eventually sink in, and change the way the world sees us.

I can dream can't I?

I'm wondering about our future president

It's a strange world out there, and I've been thinking. Who would have imagined what president Bush would have to face when he hit the Oval Office.

Upon arrival, after the agony of the chads, and Gore's legacy to the world- the recount of the recount of the recounts, there were the missing W's on the computers in the trashed offices left by the leftists who helped Clinton mess up everything before they exited the high life and went back to the doldrums.

Then there was China taking our flyboys and holding them in their country, a rather ticklish situation. September 11. 2001. Planes crashed into the twin towers in New York and before the eyes of the world they became ruble.

The Pentagon was hit. There was the  plane that was headed for the White House that didn't make it there because of the heroes on flight 93. Thousands of innocent Americans died.

All planes that were in the air anywhere over the US were ordered down, and in a miraculous way as if God said "enough" they all landed without incident.

Then came the invasion of Afghanistan to eliminate the threat of the Taliban, the agony of what to do about  Iraq when Saddam presented a possible threat, the long long wait for the useless U.N. to make a decision about backing the US, and the decision to go.

Meanwhile, back in the Oval, Bush is facing some new challenges, as other parts of the world start looking a little wacky, with radical socialists popping up in South America, the Gore legacy raising it's ugly head in the presidential elections in Mexico, the threat of Nukes in Iran, China cozying up to Iran and Russia. Gee whizz, just another day in the White House.

Oh, and how could I forget? Hezbollah armed by Syria and Iran hits Israel from Lebanon, and kidnaps two soldiers, and wait I almost forgot, Clinton's legacy raises it's ugly head in North Korea. Did I forget anything?

The point being, all roads lead to potential chaos, without a strong leader. Clinton left the job  of tackling terror for the next guy. Bush didn't want to leave it to the next guy, he's faced it head on. Now November 2008 is coming down the pike, and I have a question. Who's going to be the next man in the Oval?

The new socialists

There is a new breed of socialist out there, that seem very reasonable, until you recognize they are really anti-American.

That may sound rather harsh until you listen to their words when they go abroad, and bash our country, our president, the war on terror.

Google speeches abroad of ex-presidents Clinton, Carter, Senator Kerry, vice president Al Gore, and you will find out that they are "Internationalists" first, and Americans second.

Just as CNN, when asked during the invasion of Iraq "whose side are you on"? The answer was that they are not an "American" media, but Internationalists.

The new socialists are "Internationalists", with a global view, not a pro-American view.

Why is Kofi Annan still U.N secretary general?

I am amazed every time I see Kofi still perched on his high horse, making some irrelevant comment about world affairs. Why is this man still there? Does the U.N. have any standards, of course, I can answer my own question-NO!

Under the headlines "Israel raids Hezbollah stronghold" the front page of the OC Register Sunday Aug. 20, good ol' Kofi "issued a statement late Saturday saying the raid violated the truce". In the further AP article "Israeli force raids stronghold", Sam F. Ghattas, reports :"Israel Prime Minister Ehud Olmert defended the raid during a phone conversation with Annan, saying it was "intended to prevent the resupply of new weapons and ammunition for Hezbollah".

Ok, let me see if I'm getting this straight. Kofi Annan, probably presiding over the U.N's most corrupt period in history, including the oil for food scam with Saddam, is still in the position of secretary general of the august body that hasn't done a thing to contribute to world stability. He's telling Israel she can't go in to rid Hezbollah terrorists of their ability to collect smuggled arms from Syria and Iran (which violates the same truce)! Where is Annan's rebuke of Hezbollah violating the truce first, and causing Israel to take protective action?

When will inane Annan be dealt with, held to account, and removed from this undeserved high and mighty perch? The only worse scenario would be to have him replaced with Slick Willie (Bill Clinton)!

I'm on! Hi everyone! Catch my blogs from the Left Coast! On all topics conservative!

Well, here I am after writing letters to the editor for years on all topics conservative, getting rebutted by left wingers, atheists, socialists, and once even a call from a gentleman who wanted to debate me over the phone! My letter topic was the Creation vs. Evolution issue,  and the very topic that got me started writting! At first my reaction was to think "I don't need this", but I decided to make our conversation an opportunity to sway his point of view, and we wound up having an on going conversation about "Origins" over quite a period of time.

It's been really fun standing for the Conservative cause, and having the News Paper forum to do it, and now- THE BLOGS! Who reads news papers anymore? Well, I confess, I still do, just to find something to write a letter about...

I had no idea what a blog was, until I heard Hugh Hewitt talking about it! Wow, have I come a long way!

Hope to hear from you! God Bless!

Sheila
