I beg to differ with my friends on the right who continue to bash the Republican party and Bush. In today's headlines, the differences are clear as a bell.
The first big headline in the OC Register: "Ban on abortion method upheld"...thanks to Bush appointees to the Supreme court the ban on partial birth abortion holds.
The second big headline on drug prices: "Effort to let government negotiate drug prices falters"...the AP reported "Senate blocks a measure as Democrats fail to get needed votes"... "Senate Minority Leader Mitch Mc Connel, R- Ky, said the program is costing $265 billion less than anticipated"..."I doubt a single government program in modern history, let alone one this big and this important has ever, ever, come under budget" McConnel said. Gee, market forces actually work! Bush right again!
The third big headline in the OC Register that makes my point in spades: "Boxer seeks showdown on global warming"..."She will move bills through her environment panel to force senators to show their position on greenhouse-gas issue". Boxer said "This will be a major issue in the next election. Elections have consequences. This issue isn't going away"...and Harry Reid said last week... "Climate change, other than the war in Iraq...is the most important thing we can work on".
And last but certainly not least... on the funding for the war in Iraq, headline from the AP : " GOP: Bush won't change mind"... House Minority Leader John Boehner R- Ohio, said "It was a polite meeting" (with the dems at the White House). "The real issue...is whether we're going to agree to a surrender date, and that's not going to happen". House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said: ..."this is a historic opportunity for the executive branch, the president and Congress to work together to wind down this war and ensure the security of our country and the stability of the region".
There is no difference in the GOP, and the Dem Party?
I rest my case.
