The Christmas Story

Twas the night of Christmas, and in Bethlehem
The people had gathered both women and men.
They came for the census that Ceasar declared
All were to be counted, not one to be spared.

Joseph brought Mary heavy with child,
She carried the Savior on whom God had smiled,
She sat on a donkey her burden was great,
They sought a night's lodging, for it was quite late.

There was no room, no place for a bed,
So Mary gave birth in a lowly straw shed.
The whole world was sleeping unaware that that night
A King had been born with all power and might.

The shepherds heard singing and looked to the sky
Where angels announced the birth of the Most high.
The shepherds and Wise men came to adore
The savior from God who through the virgin was born.

The whole world was given a Savior so bright
Given by God that holy Christmas night.
He grew up to die our sins to forgive,
He came back to life, eternal life to give.

For all who receive the Christ child's free gift,
Forever in Heaven with Him one day will live.
As we look at the stars in the sky shinning bright,
We thank God above for that wondrous Christmas Night!
